How to get sponsored: athlete sponsorship explained

Athlete sponsorship is the fastest income a fighter can add and the one most are worst at chasing. Here is how sports sponsorship works on both sides of the table.

How to get sponsored by brands

Athlete sponsorship is the fastest income an athlete can add, and the one most are worst at chasing. A brand is not buying your record — it is buying whether its audience believes the pairing. Here is how sponsorship actually works, and what we do about it.

You do not need a million followers to be worth sponsoring. An athlete who genuinely owns one gym, one city or one discipline can outsell an account ten times the size, because the trust is real and the audience is specific.

What we actually look at: activity, professionalism, how you handle a camera, who follows you and where they live, your record, your reliability — and whether a brand in your category would be proud to stand next to you.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get sponsored as an athlete?
Stop asking for money and start offering something a brand can use: content it can run as an ad, an audience that matches its buyers, and reliable delivery. A fighter with 4,000 engaged local followers and clean content gets sponsored ahead of one with 80,000 passive ones. We build and pitch that case for the athletes on our roster.
How do you get sponsored?
Stop asking for money and start offering something a brand can use: content it can run as an ad, an audience that matches its buyers, and reliable delivery. Build a one-page profile with your record, real audience numbers, two content samples and exactly what you deliver. Then approach brands in your category rather than every brand. That is the work we do for athletes on our roster.
How do you ask for sponsorship?
One page, addressed to a named person, not 'to whom it may concern'. Who you are and your record, who you reach with verifiable numbers, what you deliver, what you are asking for and for how long. Attach two content samples. Never ask for 'support' — propose a trade.
How do sponsorships work?
A brand pays an athlete in money, product or both, in exchange for named deliverables: logo placement, posts, appearances, content the brand can run as advertising. Term, territory and usage rights are written down. Paid placements must be disclosed as advertising. Most disputes come from usage rights nobody defined at the start.
How do you get sponsored by brands?
Approach it as a business proposal, not a favour. A brand is buying access to your audience and the credibility you lend their product, so lead with who follows you, where they are and what they buy — not with your record. Be specific about what you will deliver and for how long. Most sponsorship goes to athletes who make it easy to say yes: clear numbers, clear deliverables, clear price.
What are some sports sponsorship examples?
In combat sports the common ones are equipment and apparel deals (gloves, wraps, fight kit), supplement and recovery brands, local businesses buying shorts or banner placement for a fight, affiliate arrangements where the athlete earns a percentage of sales through their code, and ambassador agreements that run across a season rather than a single fight. Most athletes start with product or affiliate deals and move to paid agreements as their audience grows.
